Lighting photostroll
Lighting photostroll
Controlled lighting allows the photographer to create images that are dramatic and eye catching. In this workshop we'll briefly discuss the controls of your camera flash and how the work together. Then we'll hit the streets of historic Georgetown on a photostroll looking for found scenes to which we can add lighting in order to create drama out of the ordinary. Participants will want to bring one off camera flash setup (strobe, stand, and triggers).
We’ll start by discussing the basic control of the camera and flash. Then we’ll discuss how to balance flash with ambient conditions. Next we’ll talk about what makes for a dramatic image and how camera and flash angle contribute to the overall drama. And finally we’ll discuss how lighting and composition work together to present a unified emotional message in the image.
After the discussion, we’ll all hit the streets of Georgetown and begin to learn how to see as our camera sees and find scenes that can be enhanced by the addition of strobe.
At the end of the workshop, the partipicpants will have a better fundamental understanding of the mechanics using a flash, how to balance ambient and flash, and what contributes to a dramatic image in terms of content, composition, and lighting.
